On Friday, June 7, 2023, His Grace Bishop Irinej of Eastern America paid his respects to His Eminence Saba, recently enthroned Archbishop of New York and Metropolitan of North America of the Antiochian Orthodox Christian Archdiocese of North America at his Residence and Archdiocesan Center in Englewood, New Jersey.

The two hierarchs discussed historic and present relations between the Antiochian Orthodox Patriarchate and the Serbian Orthodox Church, and the longstanding relations between the respective jurisdictions in the United States.

Mutual concern was expressed with regard to the current devastation and relief efforts in Antioch and Syria as a result of the recent earthquake; as well as the difficult existential situation in Kosovo and Metohija.

Metropolitan Saba and Bishop Irinej shared their anticipation of laboring together in the Assembly of Canonical Orthodox Bishops in the United States of America.

Bishop Irinej presented His Eminence with an icon of the Theotokos, hand-written in Serbia.
