Your Graces, dear brothers in the Lord,
It is with deep sadness that we have heard about the passing away of His Eminence Amfilohije, Archbishop of Cetinje, Metropolitan of Montenegro and the Littoral.
Metropolitan Amfilohije was a well-known and respected theologian, a great hierarch, and a pastor who accomplished a remarkable service in the Orthodox Church in Serbia and worldwide. I had the privilege to participate, with the Romanian Orthodox Church delegation, at the Great and Holy Council of the Orthodox Church in Crete in 2016 and to appreciate his interventions for the good progress of the work of the Council.
At this time of mourning, I think the whole Orthodoxy also expresses thanksgiving to the Lord foror the dedicated service in the Church of our father and brother Metropolitan Amfilohije. On behalf of the clergy and faithful of our Romanian Orthodox Metropolia, please accept our sincere condolences. We pray our Lord Jesus Christ to establish his soul where the righteous repose. We assure you of our prayers for the soul of His departed servant Metropolitan Amfilohije!
