Subject: The visit of His Holiness Serbian Patriarch Irinej on the occasion of the Extraordinary Assembly in Clearwater, Florida

Reverend Fathers,

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

Greeting you with the feast of the Meeting of the Lord, it is my honor to inform you that His Holiness Serbian Patriarch Irinej, along with two honored members of the Holy Hierarchical Synod, will attend the upcoming Extraordinary Assembly in Clearwater, Florida, on February 29, 2020.

The God-inspired Psalmist David says: Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!” (Ps. 132:1). When we, with one mouth and one heart, glorify and sing of the most-honorable and glorified Name of the Holy Trinity, the eternal Assembly – the Archtype of unity and conciliarity of the Church, and when all commune of the one Bread and one Cup, we visibly confess and show that we are living members of the One Body of Christ the God-Man and Savior of all of us and of the entire world. (I Cor. 10:16-17).

We, who by the Providence of God find ourselves in this part of the Lord’s earth, welcome the visit of our Patriarch, as the Primate of our Serbian Orthodox Church, who will lead the Liturgical celebration, preside at the Assembly and greet all of us, speaking to us words of love and unity and witnessing the oneness of our Orthodox Faith of St. Sava.

Therefore, we invite all to welcome His Holiness the Patriarch who will come to visit “the elect, exiles scattered…who have been chosen according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through the sanctifying work of the Spirit, to be obedient to Jesus Christ. Grace and peace be yours in abundance…. In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade. This inheritance is kept in heaven for you” (I Peter 1:1-4).

With greetings in Christ and the blessing of God,

+LONGIN

Bishop of New Gracanica and Midwestern America,
President of the Episcopal and Central Church Councils
