JOIN CHILDREN AT WINTER RETREAT
Shadeland, Pa - His Eminence Metropolitan Christopher of Midwestern America and His Grace Bishop Mitrophan of Eastern America met at Shadeland Camp in Pennsylvania on Thursday, December 27, 2007 to meet with the clergy and children taking part in this year’s Nativity Youth Retreat. For the second year in a row the Midwestern Metropolitanate and the Eastern Diocese have organized this retreat for their diocesan children under the leadership of their respective diocesan Christian Education directors, V. Rev. Rodney Torbic (Eastern diocese) and Rev. Radovan Jakovljevic (Midwestern Metropolitanate).
The metropolitan and bishop joined the clergy and children for breakfast at the beginning of this first full day of activities. After breakfast Metropolitan spoke tenderly to the children of the history and great significance of Shadeland camp in the history of the Serbian church in America. Then he called upon the children to address any questions they had, which began an informative and pleasant discussion between the hierarchs of our church and its youngest and dearest members.
The metropolitan and bishop also joined the older children, once they were divided into two groups, for a presentation given by V. Rev. Vladimir Demshuk.
The retreat, which began on Wednesday, December 26 will conclude with the Divine Liturgy on Saturday morning.
