Српски

On Sunday, December 4, 2016, on the feast of the Entry of the Most Holy Theotokos in the Temple, His Grace Bishop Mitrophan, Bishop of Canada, served the Holy Hierarchical Divine Liturgy at the Sts. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Church in Niagara, with the concelebration of V. Rev. Lazar Vukojev and V. Rev. Prvoslav Puric, on the occasion of the Slava of the Kolo Sestara.

The church was filled with faithful and there were forty communicants. In his inspiring homily the bishop reminded the faithful of the important and trivial things of life, according to the words of our Lord who tells Martha in the gospel read that day, "Martha, Martha, you are anxious and troubled about many things but only one thing is needed...". The bishop spoke of the significance of the Most Holy Theotokos in the plan of our salvation saying that without her we cannot think of our Lord Jesus Christ, nor without Him can we think of the Most Holy Theotokos.

Following the Divine Liturgy Bishop Mitrophan blessed the Slava kolach and wheat and blessed the food. The kuma from this year's Slava was Protinica Milica Vukojev, who also sang at the chanter's stand with Fr. Milenko Zec.

At the Slava banquet, attended also by V. Rev. Dejan Obradovic, parish priest from the St. George Church in Niagara, Fr. Lazar, the administrator of this parish, greeted the bishop expressing his joy as well his parishioner's, especially the Kolo Sestara, noting that this day marks the 45th anniversary of Bishop Mitrophan's ordination. Fr. Lazar stated that his parish is the smallest in number of parishioners but is very faithful to the the Diocese and the Diocesan bishop.
