GOLD LEAF APPLIED TO THE HALOS ON THE FRESCOES IN THE NARTHEX
Chicago, IL - Twenty-two karat gold leaves have been applied to the halos of the frescos in the narthex area of the Cathedral. Also, a coat of a protective special varnish, used in museums for the protections of museum artwork, has been applied to the whole narthex area in order to protect frescos from the smoke of candles that are lit in that area of the church. This project was sponsored by Drs. Anthony and Olga Ivankovich.
