BISHOP BENJAMIN ENTHRONED IN SAN FRANCISCO
The Bishop for Western America (Orthodox Church in America) was enthroned on Tuesday, October 2, 2007 in San Francisco. The solemn liturgy of installation was attended a large number of bishops, priests, deacons and faithful. Officiating at the Divine Liturgy was His Beatitude Metropolitan Herman, Archbishop of Washington and New York and Metropolitan of All America and Canada. Concelebrating were Bishops Serpahim of Ottawa and Canda, Benjamin of San Francisco and the West (OCA), Joseph of Los Angeles and the West (Antiochian), Maxim of Western America (Serbian) and Tihkon of Philadelphia and East Pennsylvania (OCA).
The Divine Liturgy began at 10:00 am at the Holy Trinity Church in San Francisco, founded 150 years ago.
At the end of the liturgy the first hierarch of the Orthodox Church in America, Metropolitan Herman, enthroned the new Bishop who, afterwards, thanked God and the Church for the gift of the archpastoral service and eucharistic transfiguration of the world as a part of the bishop’s service.
