BISHOP MITRPOHAN MAKES TWO VISITS TO ATLANTA

Atlanta, GA -His Grace Bishop Mitrophan visited the Sts. Peter and Paul parish in Atlanta on July 16 and 17 for their Church Slava and on July 23 and 24.

In the morning hours of SaturdayJuly 16 the traditional "Petertide Tournament" began in which many teams participate. This, now annual event, ended in a spirit of sportmanship with the delivering of trophies.

With the arrival of His Grace Bishop Mitrophan the prayerful celebration began with the festal Vespers served by Fr. Nemanja Tesic from the Charlotte parish.

On Sunday, July 17 the eucharistic gathering was officiated by Bishop Mitrophan with the concelebration of Fr. Nemanja Tesic as well as the local priest Fr. Miladin Blagojevic. Following the Liturgy Bishop Mitrophan blessed the Slava Kolach and in his homily spoke of the meaning of faith giving examples from the gospel read that morning saying that through sincere and firm faith even modern tempations can be overcome. He wished the parishioners a Joyous Slava and praised the work of the parish priest Protonamesnik Miladin Blagojevic and the faithful people of Atlanta in building the first Serbian Orthodox Church in Georgia.

Borislav and Gordana Avramovic were kumovi for this year's Slava celebration. Veseljko Janjic accepted to be kum for next year's celebration.

A big thanks to the Kolo Sestara who prepared  a wonderful meal as well as the members of the Church Board who selflessly sacrificed their time to make this Slava celebration a success. Attending the Slava celebration were many parishioners but also guests from the sister parish in Greensboro and Charlotte. Besides HIs Grace, honored guest was the Consul of Bosnia and Hercegovina Marinko Avramovic, who travelled from Washington for this event.

His Grace Bishop Mitrophan served Vespers on July 23 while chanting at the chanter's stand were V. Rev. Dragan Zaric, parish priest from Clearwater, Protonamesnik Ljubisa Brnjosa from Orlando, Protonamesnik Dragoslav Kosic from Greensboro, Fr. Slobodan Marin from Banja Luka, Bosnia and Hercegovina and Protonamesnik Miladin Blagojevic. During this visit the first baptism on the new church property on which construction of the new church will soon start, was served. On the following day the Holy Hierarchical Divine Liturgy was served, concelebrating with His Grace were V. Rev. Dragan Zaric, Fr. Slobodan Marin and Fr. Miladin Blagojevic.
