21st CHURCH ASSEMBLY SABOR DAY TWO

Alhambra, CA - The second day of the Sabor began with Matins, followed by a Parastos served by all hierarchs in memory of all deceased clergy and lay leaders.

Following breakfast the third plenary session began in the main hall. The credentials committee gave an official Sabor attendance count: 4 Bishops, 69 priests 3 deacons 5 monastics 74 laypersons.

During this session clergy and delegates heard presentations given by finalists of the St. Nikolai of Zica Oratorical Festival. The finalists from each of the three dioceses spoke on the assigned theme “The Greater The Struggle, the More Glorious The Triumph!“ Presentations were given by Milica Petrovic from the Eastern Diocese, Jovana Jevtic from the New Gracanica Midwestern American Diocese and Daniel Gligich from the Western Diocese. 

During the fourth plenary session, held after lunch, reports were heard from the Standing Committees: Christian Education, Stewardship, Youth Ministry, Liturgical Music, Communications Committee, SOTAYA, Serbian Culture and Heritage. Also, a report was presented by His Grace Bishop Mitrophan, dean of the St. Sava Theological School in Libertyville, Illinois.

Following Vespers Diocesan caucuses were held to elect new members of the Central Church Council. After dinner the remainder of the evening consisted of two workshops, one on Stewardship and the other on SOTAYA.
