LENTEN VESPERS IN CARMICHAELS, PA
Carmichaels, PA - With the Archpastoral Blessings of His Grace Bishop Dr. MITROPHAN, Deanery Lenten Vespers were held at St. George Serbian Orthodox Church in Carmichaels, Pennsylvania on Sunday, April 10, 2010. Dean Very Reverend Stavrofor Stevan Stepanov scheduled the service for the Pennsylvania parishes of Aliquippa, Carmichaels, Midland, and Pittsburgh. The Steubenville, Ohio parish and the Fairmont, West Virginia Mission parish are also included in this group.
The featured homilist for the evening was Very Reverend Stavrofor Rade Merick, Senior Editor of the Path of Orthodoxy and parish priest of Holy Resurrection Serbian Orthodox Church in Steubenville, Ohio. Father Merick compared Great Lent to each believer’s life and spoke of the importance of making good use of the remaining days of Great Lent.
Additional clergy serving in addition to Father Stepanov and Father Merick were Very Rev.Lt.Col.Adam Yonitch, Very Reverend Rajko Kosic and Reverend Father Milan Pajic. The Holy Resurrection Church Choir from Steubenville, Ohio under the direction of Mr. Nino Karas sang the inspiring responses.
St. George Executive Board President Stan Brozik greeted and thanked the attendees at the dinner in the church hall that followed the service. St.George Church Choir and Kolo President Sonia Janson expressed her appreciation to the Steubenville choir for singing the responses. God provided a beautiful and inspiring evening.
