IN MEMORIAM:
VERY REV. STAVROPHOR STEVAN STEPANOV
It is with great sadness, yet with hope in the Resurrection, that we share with you the news of the passing of Very Rev. Stavrophor Stevan Stepanov, who fell asleep in the Lord on Saturday, February 24, 2018 in his home in Medina, Ohio, at the age of 77.
He was born May 25, 1940, in Gospodjinci, (Vojvodina) Serbia, to the late Marko and Evica (Dejanovic) Stepanov. Fr. Stevan is survived by his devoted wife of 55 years, Ana Stepanov; daughter and son-in-law, Ivana and Anthony Taylor; son and daughter-in-law, Marko and Inna Stepanov, and four grandsons, Alexander, Dimitri, Roman and Stevan. Fr. Stepanov retired from St. Elijah Serbian Orthodox Church in 2014, after 41 years, as the church’s longest serving priest. St. Elijah was not only his first and only parish, it was his family, who lived in peace and harmony. For Fr. Stevan, serving his beloved St. Elijah parish was not a job, it was a labor of love. His love for Christ and his Church, love for the St. Elijah Choir, and love for his pride and joy which includes generations of altar boys, and all the children and people of the parish, was unconditional.
