THE ST GEORGE PARISH OF MONROE
CELEBRATES THE SECOND LENTEN VESPERS
Monroe, MI - On Sunday evening of March 12th the St. George parishioners and clergy were truly honored to host the second week of our deaneries Lenten vesper services. We were quite pleased with the attendance of both the Orthodox believers and clergy who worshiped together. Honoring us in celebration were Fr. Larry Legakis from the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral of Toledo, Fr.Nicholas Hubbard of the St. George Cathedral in Rossford along with our own Serbian Clergy from the Detroit Deanery: Fr. Zivko Kajevic of St. Petka in Troy, Fr. Radisa Ninkovic of St. Procopius in China, Fr. Dragan Micanovic of the St. Lazarus Cathedral in Detroit, Fr. Jerome Nietubicz of the Holy Ascension Church in Ecorse, along with our two parish Deacons Joseph Appling and Herman Webb and our reader Eric Stuart. The cantors lead by Faith Appling truly enhanced the depth of the evenings vespers.
An excellent sermon referring to the importance of not just preserving our faith but also about growing Orthodoxy in America was delivered by Fr. Radisa during which the over 130+ in attendance were spiritually nourished and after were invited by the host Fr. Radomir Obsenica to join for supper. Again the Monroe parish exhibited their hospitality to both the Orthodox and non-Orthodox who joined us.
We would like again to thank everyone for such a great evening.
