ST. SAVA CELEBRATED IN YOUNGSTOWN PARISH

Youngstown, OH - The annual St Sava celebration took place at Holy Trinity Serbian Orthodox Church in Youngstown, Ohio on Sunday January 26th. We were especially honored and grateful to have His Grace Bishop Dr. Mitrophan serve the Holy Liturgy along with Father Serafim Kuzic and Deacon Branislav Golic. In his homily, His Grace spoke of the need and meaning of repentance and how it should cause a change within us if it is sincere. His Grace also reminded us that we as people seldom refuse earthly gifts, and that Orthodox Christians are offered the greatest gift of all, the Holy Eucharist, the Body and Blood of our Savior Jesus Christ at each divine service that we should partake in.

Immediately following church services, the cutting the Slavski Kolac and banquet took place in the church hall. Serving as Kumovi were Mr. Peter and Mrs. Bonnie Lucic. Following the meal, the church school children presented a program honoring the Patron Saint of the Serbian people, reciting declamations and prayers, and explained the meaning of the Serbian Krsna Slava. Each student was presented with a collector's coin and candy from the church board for their effort.
