BISHOP LONGIN
TO LEAD CATHEDRAL DELEGATION TO REPUBLIKA SRPSKA

At the invitation of the President of the Republic of Srpska, His Excellency Milorad Dodik, a delegation from Holy Resurrection Serbian Orthodox Cathedral and Saint Sava Academy will take part in the historic 25th annual celebration of the Day of the Republic in Banja Luka on Monday, January 9th, 2017.

The delegation will be led by His Grace Bishop Longin of New Gracanica and Midwestern America who serves as President of the Episcopal Council of the Serbian Orthodox Church in North and South America, and includes Protopresbyter Darko Spasojevic, Cathedral Dean; Milan Savic, President of the Cathedral Executive Board; Nenad Djordjevic, President of the Saint Sava Academy Board of Trustees; and Marko Bojovic, Principal of Saint Sava Academy.

The historic 25th annual celebration of the Day of the Republic on January 9th, the feast of St. Stephen the Protomartyr, occurs as 99.79% of voters affirmed their wish to celebrate this as their national day in a recent referendum.

President Dodik’s invitation and the participation of the Cathedral-Academy delegation in the official celebration of the national holiday of the Republic of Srpska demonstrate the close and longstanding ties between our local church community and the Government of the Republic of Srpska, in light of the commitment of the Srpska authorities to provide meaningful support to Saint Sava Academy in the upcoming year.
