FATHER DARKO TO LEAD PILGRIMAGE TO MOUNT ATHOS

Chicago, IL - The Cathedral Office is pleased to announce that V. Rev. Dr. Darko Spasojevic, Cathedral Dean, will lead a pilgrimage to the holy monasteries of Mount Athos from October 3rd – 9th, 2016.

The six day prayer and study trip will feature visits to the holy Athonite monasteries of Hilandar, Grigoriou, Simonopetra, Karyes, Iviron, Great Lavra, and Panteleimon, including overnight hospitality and participation in the monastic cycle of divine services at each of the holy communities.

If you are interested in joining this once in a lifetime pilgrimage experience, please contact the church office at (773) 693 – 3367 ASAP since space is very limited.

SCHEDULE

October 4, 2016
Arriving to Thessaloniki airport, transfer to a hotel.

October 5, 2016
Leave at 6:00 am for Ouranopoli port, and board a speed boat to Dafni. Visit Simonopetra and Gregoriou monasteries. Overnight at Gregoriou.

October 6, 2016
After the morning services, Divine Liturgy and lunch (monasteries at Mt. Athos serve only two meals, lunch at 8:00 am and dinner at 4:00 pm) leave on a minibus to Karyes, the seat of the seat of the clerical and secular administration of the Athonite monastic state, and Iviron and Great Lavra monasteries. Evening services and overnight at Great Lavra.

October 7, 2016
Leave the Great Lavra after the services in the morning for Panteleimon monastery. Board the boat for Jovanica port and enjoy the panoramic view of the monasteries on the shores of Mt. Athos. Transfer from Jovanica to the Serbian monastery Hilandar. Overnight at Hilandar.

October 8, 2016
Leave Hilandar around noon, board the boat to Ouranopoli. Transfer to Thessaloniki and visit Serbian cemetery Zejtilnik, and other important sights in Thessaloniki, time permitting.

October 9, 2016
Leave for USA.
